Ski Tips for Girls

Getting ready for a Val Thorens skiing holiday? For those hardcore ski fanatics out there, we know that not much else matters but packing and the pre-trip planning. There’s no need to spend precious mountain time worrying about helmet hair or numb fingers. However, there are some skiers out there who want to make sure they look as good in person as they do gliding down the slopes. Here are some tips for how to style it out in the snowy mountains.

Hydration is very Important

Remember, alcohol affects you differently at altitude rather than sea level. This doesn’t mean you can have fun and let loose, but just be aware that you need to put in twice as much water as alcohol in order to stay hydrated. Investing in good quality moisturiser is also key, the mountain air will dehydrate your skin, so apply moisturiser generously to your face, hands and also grab some lip balm (SPF of course!).

Beard Envy

Skiing as a girl really makes you consider how handy facial hair truly is. A beard could help to protect against horrible wind chill, frost nip and would also offer added sun protection. Due to not being magically able to grow a beard on demand - using a thick, high factor sun cream to protect against UV rays and the ravaging wind burn. Wearing a neck gaiter or buff is definitely recommended.

Layering is Your New Best Friend

All about the layers! Packing for your holiday should include cramming as many small layers as humanly possible into your suitcase or hand luggage. Take spring skiing for example, pack a vest top (for sunbathing), long sleeve top and gilet, slim padded jacket, and a waterproof jacket. Remember a bobble hat - this is essential for going from the slopes to the apres ski scene.

No Complaining and Definitely No Risque Underwear!

Avoid the negative vibes at all costs, try your hardest not to moan about the cold, the snow, the weather, or your uncomfy boots - you’ll only succeed in making your own day worse. Enjoy being in the moment, be the person that everyone wants to be around and you’ll have a fantastic time. This is quite possibly the most important tip - wear comfortable underwear. There’s nothing worse than them slipping where the sun don’t shine when you’re trying to concentrate on skiing!

Snacking is Good

Take a sneaky sugary snack with you in your ski jacket to keep your energy levels high whilst you’re on the mountain, there’s nothing worse than feeling hungry half way up. Just make sure you eat enough to keep you fuelled and ready to attack the slopes for a few hours.

Looking Girly

Never forget your waterproof mascara - wearing regular mascara will end up with you looking like a cute skiing panda. Quick touch-ups of your makeup will keep you looking human after a hard day's skiing. Making sure you have a hair bobble or beanie can hide a multitude of helmet hair sins.
